Gaurav Gupta

Gaurav Gupta is executive vice president and chief information and digital officer for MSD. He leads the company’s global information technology, digital, data and artificial intelligence strategy, helping advance the capabilities that support innovation, business performance and the company’s purpose of saving and improving lives. He is a member of MSD’s Executive Team.

Gaurav has more than 28 years of experience leading technology-enabled business transformation, digital innovation and large-scale organizational change. Throughout his career, he has helped global organizations harness emerging technologies, data and artificial intelligence to drive growth, strengthen operations, mitigate risk and accelerate strategic transformation. He has extensive domain expertise, with more than two decades supporting the life sciences sector.

Prior to joining MSD, Gaurav was a senior partner at EY, holding a series of leadership positions, including P&L responsibility for several of EY’s largest clients across industry sectors, practice and talent development roles of increasing responsibility and multiple global governance roles.

Known for his people-first, results-oriented leadership style, Gaurav is committed to building trusted partnerships, driving business outcomes and fostering talent development. He earned an MBA, summa cum laude, from Ohio University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Delhi. He holds multiple technical certifications in areas such as AI and software development and has completed executive programs at Harvard University, INSEAD, Kellogg School of Management and London Business School.
